Michael Caldwell, Toronto-based dancer/choreographer, is honoured and thrilled to present his first collaboration with AKA Dance (directed by Amy Hampton & Keiko Ninomiya) and is proud to represent dance in this year’s Toronto Theatre Fringe Festival.

Two new choreographic duets, seven exciting shows…

Love, So Says…

Choreography: Michael Caldwell

Caldwell’s personal journey through love over the past year inspires this intensely physical duet. A break-up of a seven year relationship, adultery, bathhouses in Europe, and a spring wedding are but a few of the experiences infused in the work. Additionally, paintings on the theme of love provide further inspiration to the choreography’s visual language.

Faint Light

Choreography: Keiko Ninomiya for AKA Dance, www.akadance.ca

When you reach the depth of anger you will find that only tenderness remains.

Dora-nominated choreographer Keiko Ninomiya explores the deep relationship between anger and tenderness and how this manifests itself in our personal lives. Using the evocative music of Tetsuroh Konishi, the piece moves from meditative and distilled to explosive and raw.
