WHY:5th Annual Concert to benefit the University of Toronto Epilepsy Research Program
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder, a physical condition that affects over 300,000 Canadians. It causes a malfunction of the electrical signals that control the brain. It is characterized by sudden, brief seizures, whose nature and intensity varies from person to person. 30 % of epilepsy patients do not respond to any available treatments. New therapies are urgently needed. Many people living with epilepsy are reluctant to disclose their condition due to fear of stigma, isolation and discrimination.
