The Nutcracker Festival 2011 of Hamilton presents: the Mixcracker

The Nutcracker Festival 2011 of Hamilton presents: The Mixcracker, an evening of six performances by the internationally acclaimed Ballet Nacional de Cuba. Featured are dancers Viengsay Valdes, Alejandro Virelles, Dani Hernández and Osiel Gounod, all named among the world's best 100 dancers of the 2010-2011 season by the prestigious Dance Europe magazine.

The Mixcracker intertwines contemporary dance with traditional ballet, underlining the often joyful and humourous, sometimes exotic and complex but, always unique, dance dialect of Cuba.

The performances:

Umbral (Threshold) An abstract ballet of pure dance technique with soloists and couples.

Coppélia (Suite) A charming humourous ballet about a boy who falls in love with a doll named Coppélia.

Acentos (Accents) A celebration of male dance.

Diálogo a 4 (Dialogue among 4) A modern ballet based on the work Entre-acto Capriccio by Ignacio Cervantes

Idilio (Idyll) Reflects the first stage of a delightful young couples's relationship.

Don Quixote (Suite) The forced marriage of Kitri and Camacho is disrupted when a mysterious person intrudes.
