HATCH: emerging performance projects at the Studio Theatre
Call for submissions!

Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, is an important headquarters for artistic
ingenuity, establishing a
reputation as a world leader in contemporary culture. Though the initiation of
HATCH, a new
Performing Arts programme this fall, Harbourfront Centre aims to strengthen the
pledge to our
community by investing in and nurturing the risk, reach, creativity and
innovation of our local
creators and inventors.

The HATCH program is designed to incubate and foster theatrical inventions.
Harbourfront Centre
has dedicated four separate weeks in the Studio theatre, a 196 seat proscenium
venue located in
the hub of York Quay Centre.

HATCH is open to professional, emerging theatre inventors from across the GTA,
able to demonstrate prior artistic endeavours. Performing groups/artists from
all communities whose work is contemporary in nature. As we are a
multi-disciplinary centre, we encourage submissions of a multi-disciplinary
nature
although, not necessary. All submissions should be of a theatrical nature. We
are particularly interested in new, original work or innovative adaptations of
existing work suitable for staging in the Studio
Theatre. New or already existing productions of this nature that have had
limited production and require further seed assistance to produce are
acceptable. Preference will be given to applications that reflect the nature of
a contemporary arts centre and are inventive, creative performance-based work.
