I'm not a Dancer by any means but my wife LOVES to dance, I'm willing to learn to dance to make her happy and would like to do it before becoming any older Smile

I have a few questions.

1. What would be best all around to learn ( some thing we could go to a wedding, party etc and we could show off Smile

Ballroom, Tango, Slasa ............. any other suggestions ?

2. What would typical pricing be and how does it work other couples etc.

3. Can anyone recomend a place in the west end Bloor / Keele / Dufferin etc. ?

I'm willing to travel with in a resonable distance.

Well, they always seem to have a waltz at a wedding ...

You might like this weekend

But if you are looking for popularity .. salsa is danced in more places than anything else ...

The pricing is usually 10-15 dollars per hour for a group class in salsa or ballroom. You can also go to different salsa or ballroom dance evenings (where they have usually a free lesson in the beginning) to get a feel for what kind of dance you like best. These evenings are usually $8 to $15.

Here is a list of dance socials in Toronto:

Once you have decided on what you would like to learn, it is a good idea to take a regular class. At the dance socials you usually do not get much continuity ...

If you are at Bloor and Keele, you can try Steve Nelson for lessons at the 30-Up Club

There is parking at the 30-Up club and they have dance socials too.

For a dance social you can get to by TTC, you can take the subway to Bathurst or Christie and try Anna's on a Saturday night.

She gives regular lessons also on other evenings of the week.

With regards to partnering, most classes do rotate partners but allow those that come together as a couple to stay together during the class. However you might like to rotate every now and then, if it is ok with your wife and you, because you learn more about partnering that way. Also sometimes there are not even numbers of men and women and those without partners appreciate a dance or two.

Good luck! And it is nice you are accomodating your wife's wishes. I am sure you will enjoy it, too!

Thank you VERY much for taking the time to reply to my message. I was looking at the links you mentioned and I'll be phoneing the Dovercourt and the Bathurst locations for more information and visiting Saturday.

Thanks again.
