A full time teaching position with Stage West School of Performing Arts in Port Alberni, British Columbia, Canada, is available commencing September 2006. The successful candidate must be qualified to teach all levels of the ISTD syllabus in tap and modern to enter students for exams. The position allows for instruction in other areas such as jazz, street dance or musical theatre if the teacher is interested, but must include choreography for festival competition and shows.

Stage West has been in operation for 15 years, and is one of the leading schools on Vancouver Island. There are four large dance studios and one drama studio. Lessons are offered in R.A.D. Ballet, I.S.T.D. tap & modern, jazz, hip hop/street dance, musical theatre, contemporary and drama. There are two dance programs at the school - recreational dance and a more intensive performing arts dance program. Students in the performing arts program have very successfully competed in two annual competitions. Several students from our school have been selected each year as Provincial Representatives for the B.C. Festival of the Arts. As well, several students are also awarded bursaries each year for performance excellence. There is, on average, about 300 students enrolled at the school each year. The position requires someone who is friendly, outgoing, creative, with good interpersonal and teaching skills, and strong choreography ability.
