Call for Submissions

IN A WHITE ROOM

Attention Choreographers: This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your “site specific” work in the professional environment of the newly renovated Winchester Street Theatre.



Dates: Deadline for submissions February 1, 2005

Successful applicants will be notified by February14, 2005

Technical rehearsals: Mon May 16 (series A) and Tues May 17 (series B).

Dress rehearsals: Mon May 16 (series A) and Tues May 17 (series B).

Performances Wed May 18-Sat May 21 at 8pm (matinee Sat May 21).

Concept: Nine choreographers, nine different pieces, all of which occur in a white room. From this common point of departure and context, a full length work is created with many choreographic voices. This year there will be 18 choreographers divided into a series A and B

Submissions: As this is a self-produced show, the nine choreographers are required to pay an entrance fee of $100. This will cover production costs such as theatre rental, lighting design fee, technical staff, posters, flyers, advertising, front of house management, stage management. After these costs are met, each choreographer will get a cut of the box office.

First and last name, phone number and e-mail address.
Description of proposed work, in paragraph format incorporating concepts and ideas you would like to explore. Please include (where possible) the number of dancers in your piece, their names, music, text, costumes, specific lighting requests, and any support material.
A Bio (60-100words)
A $5 processing fee (non-refundable) for each application.


Please note that all material submitted will not be returned. The entrance fee of $100 is due on February 21, 2005 for successful applicants. Completed application forms may be mailed together with the $5 processing fee, to the address below. If you wish to write a cheque, please make it out to Natasha Gascho. Should you wish to drop it off in person, please deposit your sealed envelope into the green mailbox, found just inside the Winchester Street Theatre’s main entrance and address it to:
