Update: March 20: Toronto Public Health has recommended keeping a distance of 6 feet from others.
As the world’s health organizations monitor the spread of the Coronavirus, make sure you follow these practices recommended by Toronto Public Health to help keep your dance community safe from coronavirus.
Hand Wash Before and After Dance
Thankfully many conscientious dancers already follow the common-sense practice of washing hands before and after a dance social. However, it important to be sure to wash hands with soap and water thoroughly and for a minimum of 20 seconds before social dancing and afterwards.
Avoid putting your hands near your nose, mouth, or eyes until you have thoroughly washed your hands after dance.
Sneeze into a Tissue
Carry with you tissues and cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough. Do not cough into your hands.
Stay at Home if Sick
If you feel ill, have a fever, or develop any respiratory or flu-like symptoms, stay at home and avoid contact with others. Refrain from participating in any dance classes or dance socials until you are fully recovered. No matter how many friends will be there, or how much you need your dance fix, you will infect others.
Stay at Home after Travelling
Familiarize yourself with travel advisories if you are planning to travel in the coming weeks, especially for March Break. The World Health Organization recommends to stay home for 14 days upon your return if you have traveled to any areas where the Coronavirus is spreading. Refrain from dance classes and socials for a two week period.
The PHAC is asking Canadians who have recently traveled throughout to limit your contact with others for 14 days. This means self-isolate and stay at home.
