The internationally acclaimed Dancing Classrooms of Mad Hot Ballroom, Take the Lead and Dancing in Jaffa fame has been serving students of the Upper Elementary System of Ontario since 2007 through the charitable mission of Join the Dance (Canada).
Dancing Classrooms was created and founded in 1994 by renowned ballroom champions Pierre Dulaine and Yvonne Marceau. Today, the program exists in 26 sites across North America, Europe and in the Middle East.
The Palais Royale Ballroom has been a generous sponsor of our now highly anticipated and celebrated Annual ‘Colours of the Rainbow’ Grand Trophy Competition at which the top Gold Ribbon Finalist Schools each Academic Year since 2008 compete for the coveted and stunning Palais Royale Trophy.
This year, the event will take place on the evening of Tuesday, June 19th and we look forward to another full house that will rock the Lakeshore with the jubilant cheers of parents, educators and especially our young ladies and gentlemen proudly representing their classrooms and schools. We invite the dance community to come on out in support of a truly proven mission that is in real need. Join the Dance and the Dancing Classrooms program are wholly not for profit.
We are proud of our outstanding success and achievements in great partnership with local boards and their schools. We are especially proud of helping many thousands of students who may otherwise never have such opportunity to experience the incredible joy, elegance, discipline and unique learning benefits of ballroom and latin dance; and, of opening doors to unexplored potential in many and leading some to pursue this beautiful art form further.
We thank the National Dance Council of Canada for its special endorsement, Brigitt Mayer, renowned Ballroom Champion/Judge and Author, and also studios such as the Joy of Dance and the Continental Dance Club for their support over the years.

Hi there, I was once a student at Niagara Street Junior public school and I took part in Ballroom Dancing from this program there. The ballroom dance classes I had were in the year 2019 and my teacher went by “Ms.Shirley”. I am now in grade 8 at Queen Victoria Public School and I am looking to apply to Rosedale Heights art school. I was wondering if I could receive a short letter of recommendation from Ms.Shirley for my portfolio. Thank you.
