The outdoor festival that brings top notch contemporary and other dances to open parks is in Riverdale this month.
Dusk Dances, which this year is denoting its 23rd season, will be held at Withrow Park, 725 Logan Ave., south of Danforth Avenue.
Daily exhibitions are taking place at 7:30 p.m. from Monday, Aug. 7 to Sunday, Aug. 13.
Early shows are set for Thursday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 13 at 2:30 p.m.
Entry is pay-what-you can with a recommended $15 commitment for every individual.
This time, exhibitions will highlight five new works titled Rawrabide, Dusk Society, Homing Spirits, New Animal, and La Gigue en Souvenir by Canadian choreographers Ofilio Sinbadinho, Rhodnie Désir, Sashar Zarif, Dana Gingras, and Sylvie Bouchard with Mélissandre Tremblay-Bourassa.
Artists performing incorporate Zhenya Cerneacov, Sebastian Hirtenstein, Molly Johnson, Kathleen Legassick, Meredith Thompson, Rhodnie Désir, Luke Garwood, Carrado Cerruto, Mateo Galindo Torres, Sashar Zarif, Amber Funk-Barton, Lisa Gelley, Josh Martin, Nicholas Peter Lydiate, and Brendan Wyatt.
Each performance will highlight five 10-minute move pieces displayed in various areas all through the park.
Susie Burpee a.k.a. Allegra Charleston will be filling in as host of the occasion, which will commence with a free yoga move workshop by ace instructor Marla Meenakshi Joy, highlighting live melodic act SWAHA.
