Ballet Creole Presents…Advanced Dance Workshops with
Canada’s ONLY certified Dunham Instructor!
Join Ballet Creole’s Artistic Director Patrick Parson (M.A; BFA) for a monthly workshop exploring the technique of dance pioneer, Katherine (Katherine the Great) Dunham, the “matriarch and queen mother of black dance”.
Ms. Dunham’s anthropological studies in Africa and the Caribbean yielded a dance technique that draws from classical ballet as well as traditional African/Caribbean movement, forging a cultural link between Africa and North America. Her technique has inspired many Black choreographers and dance artists throughout the world including Alvin Ailey, Talley Beatty, Lavinia Williams, and our very own Artistic Director, Patrick Parson. Mr. Parson has been recognized for using this technique to train technically strong, versatile dancers through the Ballet Creole Company and PTP (now PTAP).
Advanced and Professional Dancers are invited to join us to learn this dynamic technique which is little known and practiced in Canada.
Fee: $25/class or pre-register at www.balletcreole.org and save.
