Anna Devuyst, ballroom dance performer, competitor, teacher, adjudicator, and proprietor of Koreatown’s Anna’s Dance Centre, passed away peacefully this September 4, 2018.
Family of Anna Devuyst invite former students, friends, tenants, and teachers (including CDTA professionals) who knew Anna to attend her Celebration of Life Ball on Friday, Feb. 22 from 7 to 11 pm, at Anna’s Dance Centre, 622 Bloor St West (a bit west of Bathurst TTC Station). There is no admission charge.
Those who knew Anna may bring an escort or partner, whether their partner knew Anna or not.
Doors open, and the dance music starts, at 7pm. Anyone wishing to share a memory of Anna can ask for the microphone between dance songs.
The family will provide sandwiches, salad and some other food, similar to how Anna often put out for dances, as well as coffee, tea, water, and maybe pop or juice. People are also welcome to bring their own dishes to share, as in the pot lucks Anna often held.
People may dress as they wish, but Anna’s nephew Frank says to show off your best — and spiciest — dance clothes, to impress Anna!
Please spread the word to those who knew Anna. Both the upstairs and downstairs studios will be open. Come and sign the guestbook, even if you have other plans for the evening.
