Contemporary Dance is fun, physical, and emotionally expressive dance form. Come learn it in an affirming environment for LGBTQ & BIPOC folks.
Each session will have a guided warm up, stretch and conditioning, movement in the centre, & movement that travels through the space. This class draws from various movement techniques including: modern, contemporary, kung fu, hip hop, street styles, & ballet, to create a hybrid form of contemporary dance.
**No experience necessary. Dialogue is encouraged. Movement variations with lower impact are discussed and provided to create greater accessibility
Classes will be facilitated by Sze-Yang Ade-Lam of ILL NANA/DiverseCity Dance Company- a queer multiracial dance company that embraces difference as strength and are committed to changing the landscape of dance by performing our stories on stage as well as providing more accessible education and performance opportunities for LGBTTIQQ2S communities prioritizing people of colour, various body types, backgrounds, classes, and abilities.
