A vibrant interplay of fact and fantasy, contemporary dance and comedy, Sara does a Solo blends storytelling, singing, dance, poetry, puppetry, video, costume and character into a poignant and passionate account of life as an artist and a parent. Prompted by a chance encounter (and performance) with renowned singer Mary Margaret O’Hara, Sara presents a fearless account of what we all face – an aging body and a reflective mind.
Celebrated for her “daring imagination” (Toronto Star) and being “wickedly funny” (Dance International), Sara Porter is back onstage with Sara does a Solo. Fresh from appearances in Montreal, New York City, and San Francisco International Arts Festival, Sara does a Solo is unlike anything else. Part memoir, part stand-up comedy, part dance performance, her stories blend intimacy and pathos, hilarity and beauty. A bold and beautiful account of mid-life.
“Refreshingly candid… emotionally mesmerizing and deliciously fun!” Niegel Smith, Director, Flea Theatre, NYC.
