Y’all begged for more. And we’re delivering! Joshua Fialkoff of The Fried Bananas/The Downtown Shimmy is back to help expand our muscial horizions (or discussions)! You won’t want to miss this very unique offering!
SATURDAY 12PM – 5(ish)PM
THE ROOTS OF RHYTHM
What is the Rhythm Section and what is it’s job? We have 4 classes to explore the Roots of Rhythm and what can we learn from musicians about interpreting the music. We’ll apply the lessons to movement, giving you the opportunity to shape your movement in response to certain musical subtleties or in pursuit of specific approaches to creative expressions! Basically, we’re geeking out HARD and it’s going to be AWESOME!
12:30-2PM – LEARNIN’ BRUNCH (Location TBA)
Josh is gonna be ‘learnin’ us’ on everything that goes into the business side of creativity, art, and finding a balance. And we’re going to be quizzing Josh on whatever we want. And eating. Lotsa eating.
DEMYSTIFYING IMPROVISATION & THE SCIENCE OF IMPROVEMENT 2-4:30PM
You can practice creativity! Josh is coming with specific tools and exercises for practicing muscial-movement improvisation, a structured approach to improvement, and methods for dealing with physical and psychological obstacles in this pursuit of improvement!
All classes will take place in the Dance Studio/Foyer (baby grand piano yo!) at 155 Dalhousie Street. Buzz security to let you in and take the elevator to the Lobby (L) on the 4th floor. You’ll often find us hanging out there before class or you can have the concierge direct you to the Studio.
And as a super added bonus, when you’re done daytime learnin’, you join us and Josh as we head over to TUX Marks the Spot! for some super fantastic evening dancin’!
