AUTORRETRATO was awarded Best Show at the 15th Flamenco Biennial, Seville, 2008, and the Audience Prize for Best Show at the 13th Annual Jerez Festival, 2009. The company, featuring Pages, eight dancers and six musicians, has been receiving accolades and awards since 1996 including the National Choreography Award ADE, the National Dance Award, and the prize for Culture from the Community of Madrid.
Said to be strong and gentle, tragic and comical, evocative and provocative, AUTORRETRATO (Self Portrait) originated out of a challenge from luminary artist Mikhail Baryshnikov, who commissioned a work that would not only showcase Pagés as a dancer and creator, but as a human being on a personal journey.
Presented by The Toronto International Flamenco Festival, Show One Productions and the Sony Centre, Compañía María Pagés, featuring Pagés, eight dancers and six musicians live on stage will make one appearance only in Toronto on Saturday, March 30, 2013 with AUTORRETRATO.
