Kids Play & Youth Outlook celebrates the positive achievements of young artists for their third year in Toronto on Saturday July 25, 2009. Normally held at Nathan Phillips Square, the youth festival has been moved to Exhibition Place’s Centennial Square, near the Dufferin Gate, due to the continuing Civic Strike.
“We’re expecting 20,000 people and we want them to know about the change of location,” says organizer Tylaine Duggan. “This is about the youth and giving them a free stage to perform on — we want them to pick up a guitar, just don’t pick up a gun.”
Above is a video of some hip hop dancers from Toronto’s 2007 Youth Day Festival:
This year on July 25 there is a lineup of 65 acts — music, dance and photography — spread out over nine hours starting at noon.
The FREE family festival is one everyone can enjoy; the latest in artistic passions; free prizes and give aways; artisan vendors for shopping; a selection of great foods, Canadian Idol participants, and a surprise headliner close.
About Kids Play & Youth Outlook
KPYO is an initiative to help kids & youth get back into free after-school and weekend activities by rewarding them with redeemable points for products and services enabled by responsible businesses. Their aim is to encourage our next generation’s keen insight to get involved in fun, learning and personal development activities with mentors – for a bright future.
Kids from 6 to 18 years old can sign up for a free TY Card and collect points when they participate in activities after school and on the weekends. Afterwards they can trade in their collected points for retail products that advertisers have posted on the Rewards Catalogue. If they save up their rewards, they can even earn college or university education on points!
The KYPO Website explains how kids can get a TY Card and lists activity organizers that accept the TY Card.
