Thirty thousand Michael Jackson fans gathered in Toronto’s Dundas Square on Canada Day July 1, 2009 to spend a few hours dancing together in celebratory remembrance of one of the world’s most renowned performers.
Michael Jackson popularized many unique dance moves including the “moonwalk,” a dance technique that presents the illusion that the dancer is stepping forward while actually moving backward. He also inspired Toronto’s Ines Markeljevi to launch Thrill The World, an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of his hit song “Thriller.”
