The National Ballet of Canada and TTC join forces to bring a first-of-its-kind campaign called “We Move You,” to Toronto.
“Both our organizations move Torontonians – the TTC physically around our city and the National Ballet through our performances onstage. Collaborating together enables us to highlight movement through ballet, while introducing our dancers to new, wider audiences across the city,” said Karen Kain, Artistic Director, The National Ballet of Canada. “The company is thrilled with our newfound partnership with the TTC.”
The campaign will feature video and images of National Ballet dancers at various TTC locations across the city, namely, Principal Dancers Naoya Ebe and Heather Ogden, First Soloists Francesco Gabriele Frola and Jenna Savella and Second Soloist Rui Huang.
You are invited to share images of your TTC ride and what moves you during the campaign by posting to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using #WeMoveYouTO.
In particular, on Monday, November 14 you are invited to watch dancers from the National Ballet take a barre class at Union Station at 11:30 am. Karen Kain and TTC’s CEO Andy Byford will share remarks about the campaign and partnership before the class.
This campaign is facing backlash from the Body Confidence Canada Awards for promoting “unrealistic and highly regimented bodies as some sort of an ideal of ‘beauty.’”
