Stephanie Gurnon of Go Dance Mambo is proud to present the Second Annual Toronto Bachata Festival just after Valentine’s from February 18-20, 2011. This steamy Toronto dance festival returns this year even bigger and better, with four international stars and and all-new Zouk dance room.
Most events are taking place at Dovercourt House and the Lithuanian house. The festival will include daily workshops, nightly dance parties, sexy performances, and a the finals of the Toronto Bachata Competition with a $2000 prize going to the top professional couple and $500 to the top amateur couple.
Bachata for Charity
There will be a silent auction for items including tickets to Raptors games, dance and yoga classes, and dance festivals. All of the proceeds from the Silent Auction will go to Windfall Basics Kids Club, a charity that provides new clothing and school supplies to kids going into shelters in the GTA.
Bachata Festival Performers/Instructors
Toronto dance schools that will be performing include the Bachata Club, U of T dancers, Steps Dance Studio, City Dance Corps, United Salseros, Ifreestyle, Latin Energy, Dance to Live Studio, Soul2Sole, Latin Groove Productions, Toronto Dance Salsa, Brazil Dance World, and Go Dance Mambo.
International instructors include youtube sensation Tanja and Jorge (their video dancing to ‘Te Extrano’ has received over 20 million hits!), renowned dancer Darlin Garcia, and K-Yo, a top Zouk dancer from Brazil.

Zouk often accompanies Bachata at world-wide Bachata Festivals, and this year Toronto follows suit. Zouk dancers will have their own room to enjoy this sensuous dance to music played by DJ Junyan of Mazouka.
There will also be a Zouk workshop by K-Yo during the Festival on Sunday for those who have some previous experience dancing Zouk.

Go Dance Mambo offers dance classes in salsa, mambo, bachata, cha cha and zouk while offering specialty classes, workshops and a popular Sunday Salsa Social, now running 8 years at Dovercourt House in downtown Toronto. As well as organizing the Toronto Bachata Festival, they also run a yearly Vavoom Valentine’s Ball and Chocolate Salsa Party.
